Community Food Projects Community or Practice Webinar Series:
Exploring AI as a Tool for Advancing Food Systems Transformation
April 23rd, 2-3:30 EST
Whether we like it or not, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is increasingly influencing our personal and professional lives, including the way we organize and communicate with each other and our communities. How can we use it with integrity and to our advantage—to strengthen our movements, amplify community voices, and push for systemic change? And what challenges, tensions, and risks must we consider, particularly in today’s political climate?
We’re excited to welcome Amani Olugbala from Rested Root and North Cady from Puyallup Food Bank, who will share their perspectives on AI as a tool for simplifying and advancing individual and collective work. Through their experiences and applications of AI tools, we’ll examine how AI can support food justice efforts while navigating ethical concerns, bias, security and access issues.
This session will be highly interactive, encouraging open dialogue about the promises and pitfalls of AI in food systems work. We’ll also get a peek at how North uses AI to greatly simplify grant writing at their organization. Whether you’re already using AI or just beginning to explore its implications, this is a space to collectively reflect on how we wield technology in service of community food systems. Note that we will not be recording, so if you’re interested in this topic please be sure to attend the live session!
